It is weird, while reading the second book "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" I have all these emotions: I worry when the good characters are in a bad situation, I am happy when the bad ones are in trouble. I knew that the book was good, it brings a captivating story in a rough world, it is easy to get lost in it or to try to enact it, like some people try to do with the Bible. The thought that I keep having at the back of my head is this: “It’s not real, come back to reality, be attentive and stay awake”. This has been my thinking with most fantasy books or movies. I am somehow afraid that I’ll get lost in there, because want it or not, a fantastic world is much more interesting : food appears out of nowhere, things fly and transform their shape and animals speak. I think that this particular fact, that Harry Potter is still somewhat still under the burden of Muggle life, non-magical, boring, difficult life and at the same time he discovers his magical power-that makes the story and the characters so appealing. As readers, we identify with them. We start wondering. I’m sure, there were kids and adults alike who began thinking about themselves as more capable, more ingenious, the world full of possibilities, a place to want to stay in, just because they read about Harry Potter’s adventures. This book also started easy in the Muggle world, gradually moving to the Wizard World where all things happen. The castle is always changing, the people in the pictures are alive, the walls and the stairs shift and move, the safe place is not that safe because somehow the badness infiltrated it and is trying to take control. All this is very similar to our Muggle world, and my mind creates a lot of weird analogies that sometimes look like AI generated pictures 😄 I was relieved when in the depth of the earth, in the dark and crammed Chamber, Harry found the strength of spirit and mind to kill the ugly snake. I felt inspired and peaceful, ones again the goodness won. And so it is…
