6. Perfectionism and it's misleading ways
12/14/2023
I read "Perfektionismus. Wenn das Soll zum Muss wird" by Raphel M Bonelli and felt like peeking in a room I was not supposed to look in.
I was a voyeur 👀!
But being a bit uncomfortable, a bit intrigued made me want to read more. The examples are real, just the names and very personal details have been changed. This is even better as I think we can all safely recognize ourselves in some of the stories, the subject matter is essentially the struggling human mind. There is an underlying theme, an idea that keeps all the different life stories connected and that is : the mind trying to bend life to a certain angle, so that it would sooth us and bring us apparent peace.
The way to live is the other way around : the mind needs to adapt and manage the exterior by changing itself. The Perfectionist mind is having trouble doing so, it is locked inside a view that is so restrictive that nothing else fits or is even noticed.
I really like the in-between passages, between examples and stories, where the author is providing professional insight, context and more details.
The world inside us the living is under tremendous pressure. The modern life has brought technological improvements but it also left so many of us behind. emotionality we are depleted, we are suffering of emotional hunger. Some of the examples in this book might be striking a sensitive side in you . That is for the better.
Read it!
