48. To scrape or not to scrape

What is web scraping? Is it legal? What can be scraped and what can I do with the scraped information? 

These are some of the questions going through my mind while learning about scraping recently. I’m not a scraping specialist but I found it curious that it’s possible to do that. 

I read several articles and the discussion here  and the bottomline is :  as long as you don’t scrape personal data or break a site and don’t try to make a profit - it’s ok.
